She Loves Beauty

Hello again and welcome to a fresh month, I am personally hoping this month is a hell of a sight better than last. I really struggled last month as I had a lot going on in my personal life it completely killed me off, hence the no post last week. I thought I would do an old school favourites post, as I personally love these myself as its nice discovering new items, so I will just get straight onto the post...

1. Avon Planet Spa- Lavender Pillow Mist: I have probably been using this for about 6 months now and it has been a life saver, my anxiety these last 2 months or so has been horrendous. I spray this on my bedding as I am settling down and watching a film and I kid you not I will be asleep in 10 minutes. It really helps calm me before bed. Its about £7 for 2 bottles on Amazon and it literally lasts me months!

2. Dermalogica -Active Clay Cleanser: I have done a whole post on this product which is available here , this stuff has transformed my skin completely. I use this every morning and it leaves my skin feeling super clean, it has also cleared my skin up which is an absolute miracle. It is a little on the pricer side, however you literally need the tiniest amount and it'll last months!

3. Lenor- Crease Releaser: Recently I have been obsessed with home accounts on instagram and never in a million year would I of thought of buying this. But OH my GOD, I never have to iron again, this stuff is a life saver. You literally spray it on the creases smooth over the item of clothing and leave it hung up, and all the creases disappear. I bought mine from Home Bargains for £1.99

4. Revolution Jake-Jamie- Feed Your Face Doughnut Mask: I am usually a charcoal mask type of gal, I never normally go for a brightening mask. However I have fallen in love with this one, firstly the smell of it is amazing and secondly it leaves my skin feeling so soft!!

5. L'oreal Hydra-Genius moisturiser : I have loved this forever, but I have needed it 10 times more these last few weeks with the weather in the UK! My skin has been super dry and this is the only thing that helps my dry skin, its super affordable and feels so refreshing on your skin.

6. Food Favourites :-
- M&S Raspberry Jaffa cakes
- Cheese Coleslaw
-Strawberries (my dads been growing some in his green house so very convenient)
-Drench citrus

7. TV Favourites :-
-Modern Family- I have watched this every day without fail, it is so easy to just have on in the background.
-Bambi (literally my all time fave)
-Peaky Blinders

There we go and that is my monthly favourites for may, I haven't tried that many new things out recently, I am in a better place now so hopefully will be able to bring some newer products on my blog soon! If there is any posts you want to see let me know in the comments.

All my love

Hey gals, happy hump day hope you're all doing well. I thought that this weeks blog post should be on something that we can all relate to, lockdown. I live in the UK (wales to be exact) and we have been on lockdown now since March 23rd, which sounds crazy now considering we are basically in June. I know a lot of people have taken to lockdown in all sorts of ways starting businesses, getting new hobbies, some have struggled and others are just living life as normal and going to work. I thought by writing this I might reassure some of you, by telling you how my lockdown experience has been....

Start Of Lockdown

Not going to lie, I was kind of excited. I love nothing more than chilling at home in my pjs on my days off, playing sims and watching Netflix. So when lockdown was approaching and the announcements in work sounded like we were closing I was so excited for some time off. Laughing and joking with my work mates telling them I would see them next year absolutely naive to the facts, as I couldn't myself register what was happening as everything in the UK was kept very hush hush. So in my head we would have about 3 weeks off then everything would be fine, and I think thats what a lot of my colleagues thought also.

The day lock down was announced myself and several other people had to go into work to do a full on 'close down'. I work in retail so as you can imagine tills need cashing up, money needs collecting and items need locking away. I was a really weird feeling I felt like we were closing down, I was so emotional. I got home kind of in shock of what had just happened and was glued to the news all night long.

The first few days were kind of like days off from work, I did way to much research on China, Covid 19 and global pandemics, looking back now I really regret. I spent the time chilling out, pampering myself (and my boyfriend) and playing The Sims.

I would say about 2 weeks in is when things really took their tole on me. There was a lot of bad press about the company I work for, so I started to get super stressed over losing my job. Which led to my poor boyfriend getting the brunt of that, when I say this I mean it anything would pi** me off, he would literally leave one thing out of place and I would lose it (I guess also I am not used to living with a boy, THEY are MESSY!!). I was just an absolute emotional mess, one day I literally dropped a frozen chicken burger on the floor and cried. It was honestly so bloody weird.

Middle (about 4 weeks in)

Not going to say things improved massively because they didn't, however things got a little better. The death rate in the UK was literally rising by the hour it was so scary, I would not leave the house to even go to the shops. I did manage to get myself in a bit of a routine by this point, I started making to do lists (really recommend this) and also started setting an alarm and doing yoga in the morning to give myself a little purpose to my day.

I re started my Instagram I have always been obsessed with making my instagram look nice, but stopped about a year ago due to many factors. So I decided I would get back into that and take pictures again, this has really helped me. I have been trying to upload everyday and been doing my make up and stuff to take photos so I have kind of treated it as 'work', even though I don't get paid. It just helps structure my day a little.

By now I had structure, had learnt how to live with a messy boy and was feeling better within myself, I was cramming my head with positivity which was helping and any negative thoughts I would just get rid of. However the 3 emails a week from the company I worked for would really challenge me and non of them carried good news.

I did have the odd wobble where I would find myself so unmotivated and sad, but I at this point could bring myself out of that runt. During these weeks I learnt that I am quite an introvert, I love my own time and space which is hard to do while you're practically living in a room with someone for weeks... I would sometimes separate myself from my boyfriend some days and just do my own thing downstairs, I found this helped a lot it was like a normal day, where I would just see him at tea time (not that I don't want to talk to him lol).

Current Day (10 weeks in)

I cannot believe I have just counted 10 weeks, I feel like its gone so quick despite all the hick ups along the way. Currently I am living an absolute nightmare, have had a huge argument with my mum and am thinking about moving in with my dad. Which I can tell you it is absolutely draining living with someone who wont speak to you, without an argument.

My work is looking more positive and looks like we will reopen when restrictions lift, which is a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.. Not even due to money worries, purely because I absolutely love my job and the people I work with.

Me and my boyfriend have learnt to live with each-other, he has also adapted to my neat freak ways and knows to put away his clothes and not leave them everywhere. Living with him 24/7 has made me so excited for when we get a house together, feel like we have both grown and had to learn to compromise (The XBOX!!!).

Wales are a little behind England in all the restrictions lifting, so at the moment I am still not able to work but it will be interesting to know how shops in England re open in the coming weeks. I will admit I am so apprehensive about going back to work, and quite negative that it'll be safe enough, so we will see.

5 Things I Have Learnt About Myself During Lockdown...

1. I do not say yes to enough things- There has been many occasions where someone has asked me to go out or go shopping and I have made some excuse, I wish I would of said yes to more things pre lockdown.
2. I do not see my family enough- This is a hard one as we are all adults so only have ourselves to blame, but after lockdown, I will sure as hell be visiting my family more even if it is only for 5 minutes.
3. I like my alone time- I am hella clingy (pre lockdown) and if my boyfriend rather go on xbox I would get offended, however I have found I need my alone time, much more than I ever thought. So I am going to value my own time a lot more as things go back to normal
4. My boyfriends my rock- This time last year I was a mad independent woman that would never of wanted to rely on a man again, however I have found my boyfriend to be my absolute life saver through all this! I don't think I would of got through it in one piece without him.
5. I spend way to much time on my phone - I think this is understandable at the moment as I haven't seen anyone in 10 weeks. However I have found myself countlessly scrolling on facebook and instagram. So I will be trying to have a little detox when I am back in work thats for sure.

To conclude, I just want you all to know there is no right or wrong way to do lockdown, if you have discovered a new hobby or stayed in bed all day then congrats. Don't feel pressured by other peoples actions, and don't be sucked in by the happy happy social posting. I can hand on heart tell you now theres been days, where I have uploaded selfies looking glam and all put together on insta - 3 hours later I have been having a complete meltdown about how unhappy I am. There is no right or wrong guys, you do you and whatever gets you through this very weird time, you do that.

Thank you for reading, all my love

If you would of told me in march when lockdown went into place, that I would of been spending my birthday stuck in the house I would not of believed you. I have been finding lockdown hella hard if I am honest, I don't have the best relationship with my mum (that I live with) and I absolutely love work. So I have been hoping and praying I would of least been able to go for a meal or something for my birthday, however dominos was the best we could do.

My boyfriend decided to move in when lockdown happened as it would of meant me being alone in the house 6 days a week. Not going to lie living in basically a room with someone is hard going, so how he still loves me I don't know. He started planning my birthday months ago, I had numerous parcels coming to my door so had no idea what he had planned.

I will get onto my birthday day now, enough with the rambling. I woke up with the alarm going off at like 7:30, this for me is way to early so I did stay in bed for a little to come to, while Corey was sorting stuff downstairs. This is what I seen when I entered the living room... Safe to say I wanted to cry!

Sorry for these HORRENDOUS pictures, I took a video instead of pictures, so head to my insta if you want to see that..

What I got for my Birthday

I was so overwhelmed, I had no idea that he understood things like this (girly asetics), I think its safe to say his friends girlfriends must of gave him some pointers! It was so beautiful, after getting over the fact someone would actually do this for me I started on my presents. I hadn't asked for anything - as everything going on is having such a financial strain on people, so would of been grateful for a card. I'll include a few of the things I have received, however I know a lot of people don't like these so I wont make it lengthy..

My boyfriend definitely got some pointers of the lads girl friends because safe to say I was shook. I have wanted the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette for a while now and he got me that along with Morphe brushes. I am so obsessed with Disney still at the age of 23, Bambi and Dumbo are my ultimate favourites so he bought we a large dumbo teddy (theres a story behind it, and me losing mine as a child), I also received the cutest Skinny Dip thumper make up bag. He did so good and I am so lucky to have him, however he did completely mess up on the card without even noticing, and left the template name on it. You may now call me Rachel, however the cute little paragraph inside made up for it.

I won't go on too much about the materialistic things as they are not important. After I had opened my presents Corey hid away in the kitchen to make breakfast, this is what he came out with!! Sorry for the photo the video is over on my insta highlights..

The Food and Drinks

So after over indulging in them amazing pancakes, we got ready and wave to my grandma and dad through the window. I am so close to them it was so horrible not being able to give them a squeeze. Then came back home and Chef Corey was back in full swing with the party food. Yet again videoed the food so I am sorry theres no picture evidence, but I am sure you can imagine sausage rolls, dippers, sandwiches and crisps, this btw is what I requested very easily pleased haha. So we then chilled out with a few drinks in the garden, I was so lucky the weather was absolutely amazing.

While chilling out in the garden I had two gorgeous flower deliveries off my two best-friends and it really did catch me by surprise, unexpected flower deliveries are just the best aren't they!

When my mum got home we ordered Dominos, then we just chilled out and ate the life supply of chocolate I was given and had some more drinks before bed. Corey's mum was kind enough aswell to bake me a cake which was AMAZING! Ill include a photo of that below..

I had a lovely birthday and am so lucky to be surrounded with great family and friends that were able to keep my spirits up via FaceTime etc. Never in a million years would I of thought a boy would go to this much trouble for me on my birthday, so I am so thank full to Corey for making it a birthday in quarantine to remember. Heres to 23, I mean can't exactly live my first few months of 23 to the fullest with everything going on, however when this lockdown is over I will never say no to seeing friends or family again.

Thank you so much for reading xx

Hey... Hope you enjoyed my last two blog posts on my trip to Rome, if you missed them then they are here (part one),(part two). Todays post is all about skincare, I feel like everyone is a little obsessed with skincare at the moment, me included. For years now I have suffered with awful skin acne, discolouration you name it, its been one of my biggest insecurities by far for a very long time.

I am very lucky to be on Dermalogica's PR list, how I landed this I have no idea, but I am so great full. Every so often they send me new products they have released and about a month ago now I received this "active clay cleanser". Now for someone with oily skin I have tried many clay cleansers and clay masks and have had very little luck, so its safe to say I was a little reluctant for it to do what it says.

When this arrived it wasn't long after we went into lockdown, I was stressed and so was my skin (actually my skin was VERY stressed), I will leave some pictures of what my skin was like this week just below. I understand there are people out there with worse cases of acne etc, but to me its bad.
Ok, so I started using this product every single morning without fail, in hope to see some results. I simply just rinsed my face with warm water then used a small amount of the cleanser and massaged it into my skin then rinsed away. Simple aye? I thought it was going to be one of them products that works for a week then doesn't keep the acne/spots from coming back. Oh boy was I wrong. Below are some photos of how my skin is today, roughly a month after starting to use this.

Quite the difference right? I am so blown away with the results of this product and would totally recommend it if you have oily/spot prone skin. I feel so much more confident in myself after the results of this product. I am so happy. Let me know in the comments what your skin care must haves are, as I love trying out new things.

Thank you so much for reading this post, the product was gifted to me however I am not obliged to write this post.

Hello, I am back with part 2 of my Rome trip, which are the last 2 days of the trip. If you're new to my blog hi, thank you for visiting, I have days 1 & 2 here if you want to catch up with that first. Without anymore rambling I will just get into it....

The Previous evening we were thinking about what to do on day 3 as I hadn't planned anything. After speaking to a few friends that had visited Rome I decided to book tickets to the Vatican City, which wasn't expensive at all I was very surprised.

So we woke up very early this morning as we had decided we would walk to the Vatican city, while getting some breakfast on the way. We of course picked up some crepes, which were amazing dripping in Nutella AMAZING! Our tickets for the Vatican were booked for 10am and we arrived there about 9:30 which was ample as we could go straight in. I was expecting huge queues, however we literally picked up our tickets and walked straight through. We found our bearings and plotted our route around (its huge). If you're thinking about visiting the Vatican, but are not sure please go, I was so blown away with everything there was an option too to have a guided tour or audio tour (wish we would of done the audio one). However we learnt so much and the artefacts were amazing, and a lot of them beautiful! I'll include some of the pictures I managed to take, however they do not do justice as all, and Unfortunately you're not allowed to take photos in the sistine chapel- just take my word for it, its beautiful.

After finishing at the museum we grabbed some lunch at their little canteen/restaurant and it was lovely (had pasta of course). We then had a wonder around the ground which are beautiful, we went at the beginning of January and they still had the Christmas tree up which was lovely to see. So we got some photos and started our stroll back...

We had no plans so we were in no rush to be anywhere so on the way back we called in a few souvenir shops and bought the family some presents. On the way back to the hotel we found the Castel Sant'Angelo, we decided not to actually go inside however it did look lovely and now I wish we had of.

That night we decided to have a bit of a date night, so we got a little glammed up and went for dinner in a cute diner themed restaurant which was not far from the colosseum. Then after we had ate we visited the ice club, I had been recommended this by someone in work and I am so glad we did it. I will warn you it is absolutely FREEZING not just a little chilly... It was 30 euro (I think) for 1 shot each and 1 drink each which I thought was good considering its a fun experience. We didn't last that long in there not going to lie, we stayed around half an hour and decided to leave a little tipsy. We decided we would walk to the Colosseum to see it all lit up at night and get some pictures. It was beautiful.

On the walk back to the hotel we walked via the Trevi, as we had seen a gelato shop and we both really wanted to try it. I can confirm it was the BEST ice cream/gelato I have ever had in my life..  I absolutely demolished mine and finished Corey's. By the time we finished our ice creams we were back at the hotel and just chilled out and watched a film, we had decided to have a lie in the next day so there was no rush to do anything.

Next day we literally didn't wake up until gone 10am we were shattered, as we had done so much walking and exploring. We decided as it was our last day we didn't want to do anything too tiring, so we decided to go on a little walk. We got up and dressed and walked to the Piazza del Popolo to grab some lunch, where I no joke had the nicest pasta I have ever had in my life (Cacio e pepe).

After some Lunch we had a wonder around the Villa Borghese which is a big beautiful park, we walked around the whole park and then headed to some shops as I wanted to have a little splurge in Sephora. Also really wanted to find a Victoria secret (turns out its tiny and in a station), needless to say the 1 hour walk was defiantly not worth it. So we just had a wonder around the area and headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner, as we wanted to eat earlier so we could have an early night.

We decided to go back to the first restaurant we went to on the first night as we loved it so much, so we walked up towards the Spanish steps again and admired the last of the pretty views. For food I had the exact same as I did on the first night (pomodoro). We made a detour on the way home for more gelato as I was literally OBSESSED at this point, then we wondered back to the hotel stopping off at some last minute souvenir shops.

As soon as we got back to the hotel I was in full swing of sorting out our cases/carry ons, then we just had a little reminisce about our holiday and by this time it was 12:00 and Coreys birthday so I found some embarrassing pictures of him, to do the obligatory facebook pot then we went to sleep.

We had to get up at 6am, as our taxi was picking us up at 7am. I hate things like this because I just get stressed, so you bet I checked every drawer 6 times then we checked out and waited for our taxi. The before we knew it (another GTA car journey) we were back at the airport. We literally breezed through security AGAIN to come to the smallest duty free ever, so I literally had pizza for breakfast 'When in Rome' right? Our flight was on time, we boarded and before we knew it we were home.

It was 100% the best city break I have been on, it was so chilled out, the weather was gorgeous (apparently all it did in the UK was rain) and I just had the best company. If you're thinking about Rome I do highly recommend it.

I booked everything separately
Flights- RyanAir
Hotel-Booking.com
Excursions- Get your Guide (Totally recommend this site)

Thank you for reading this post. Hopefully we can get back to exploring soon

Hi, so a lot has happened since I last blogged a year ago with myself and the world as we currently sit in lockdown. I don't know about anyone else, but I myself am finding being stuck in the house so difficult. So today I am going to blog about something pre lockdown, to remind myself and others of more positive times. For Christmas I bought my Boyfriend (also a new factor in my life since I blogged last) a trip to Rome, I have never done anything like this before but I felt that we both deserved a treat so thought what the hell.. This Post is going to be a bit of an advice blog and also something I can look back on myself in years to come. If you like this type of blog post I have done a few other posts on LA, Las Vegas, San Fransisco, New York and Florida.

So our flight was from Manchester Airport 7am on the 12th of January, I much prefer an earlier flight as I find that the airport is a lot quieter in the early hours. Security and bag check was an absolute breeze, the first time in my life I think I haven't had to queue, straight in and out. We grabbed some snacks for the flight from duty free and before we knew it we were boarding the plane. Its been a while since I have done a short haul flight, and for someone who HATES being on a plane the thought of a 1hr 45min was bliss to the mind. We landed at Rome Ciampino around 10am/11am and our transfer was there waiting for us. I had booked with Shuttle Direct they were fab arrived on time with a sign to pick us up and we shared a mini bus with 3 other couples, the ride to the hotel was like something out of Grand theft auto, surprised we arrived in one piece (Italian Drivers MAD).

We stayed at Class House Residenza, which little did we know is actually two hotels and the address on the website is not where the main desk it. 1 hour later and 4 phone calls with broken english we finally found check in and left our bags in the hotel and went exploring. For someone who has never booked a hotel (for a holiday) before I was so impressed with myself on picking the location, we were located just a 5 minute walk from the Spanish Steps (if you know Rome you'll know this is very central. At this point it was gone 1pm we were starving and I was dying to tuck into some Italian food. We headed down to Piazza del Popolo and found a little pizzeria.

After our first little wonder we headed back to the hotel and unpacked and freshened up, which I desperately needed after being on a plane and then wondering round a surprisingly warm Rome, we also had a very long 2 hour nap and felt like death. We decided to get up and get some dinner.

We wondered up towards the Spanish steps and found a very cute restaurant called Alla Rampa tucked in the corner of a street with fairy lights all over it of course it was a selling point. I wish I would of taken photos inside this restaurant it was the cutest and the food was just amazing. After we had finished our food we went for a wonder round, and found the Trevi Fountain, now I have never been blown away by it in photos/movies, but wow it was gorgeous. I feel like the fact it was our first night in Rome and the lighting around made it look 10 times better.

After wondering round getting countless strangers to take pictures of us, we headed back to our hotel and got some rest, as I had booked an excursion for 10am the next morning...

We woke up around 8am and got ready and jumped in an Uber to the Colosseum, I have never really been that interested in Roman history as we didn't really touch on it in school. So i'll be honest I wasn't expecting much at all, because I had bought "skip the queue" passes we luckily didn't have to queue for hours. We checked in with the group and got led into the Colosseum, there was a small exhibition about all the history of the Colosseum so we had a mooch around then headed into the main part. I was honestly a little blown away, I don't really know what I was expecting but I was expecting anything on the scale it was. Its HUGE! So we had a wonder around for about an hour grabbed a few photos learnt some interesting facts which led to us googling all sorts about gladiators. We then left and met up with our group again and they led us up to the Roman Forum and The Palatine Hill.

I was blown away by the Roman Forum and Palatine and could not believe how long some of the ruins had been there for and how they had been kept so well. There was so many interesting facts that we learnt along the way too. This took us about 2 hours to have a good wonder around, we took our time and chilled our a little bit as it was pretty hot!

We had no plans after leaving here so we got on google maps and headed towards our hotel stopping off for some food on the way... Which led to Corey accidentally paying 40 euros for a steak oops, complete and utter tourist fail. We strolled back to our hotel and stubbled upon Altar Of the Father Land, which is an absolutely insane monument which was completely guarded by the military. After that we visited the Pantheon Rome, which is an absolutely beautiful Church.

When we arrived back at the hotel we started getting ready to go out for dinner. One of the main reasons I booked the trip on these dates was because Corey's Birthday fell on the day we came home, so as an early surprise I booked a table at Hard Rock hotel and emailed them asking if they would sing Happy Birthday (I knew he would hate this ops). So we arrived at Hard Rock and tucked into our meals which were gorgeous, both when for burgers every time I visit a Hard Rock I get the pulled pork burger ITS TO DIE FOR! After our meals were finished we were just chatting, next thing they were screaming (singing) Happy Birthday to Corey. His face was an absolute picture wish I could upload the video for you to watch but I know he will kill me. After the 5 second silent treatment he gave me for embarrassing him was over, we headed to the gift shop and headed back.

Ok so that is all for Day 1 and 2 I hope you enjoyed reading this, I will upload days 3 and 4 soon. Thank you for reading.

Happy New Year, it has been a while I know been super busy and indecisive over what I wanted to do blogging wise. If you follow me on instagram you will see my posts have changed rather a lot recently I have come away from the crisp white background beauty post and dedicated it more to a normal instagram. Mainly because I want to be able to look back on it for memories rather than when I bought a new palette. Blogging has been on my mind so much recently as I have lacked so much inspiration, Blogmas never happened due to being too busy and not having the time to sit down and write without falling to sleep! Any way I am back, not going to hold myself to a schedule for now I will just see how I get on...
___________________________________________

So, after watching nearly all the rom coms on Netflix, every prison documentary and Gossip Girl 3 times over, I was scrolling through the other night and came across "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. I would like to say I am quite a tidy (ish) person, however I do have a lot of things in my very little room so it feels very messy. I have heard very good things about Marie Kondo's books so I thought I would give her show ago... I am totally blown away and inspired so the day after I did exactly what she teaches - decluttered.

  1. Take it all out - this is the part I absolutely hated taking EVERYTHING out of my wardrobe and placing it on my bed in the biggest pile of clothing you've seen. Luckily I have no photos of this part luckily!
  2. Sort through- Now its time to go through everything, I was very brutal with this as I hoard my clothes. I haven't grown since I was about 15 so I always hold on to everything! If I hadn't worn it in the last 3 months then it went! The hardest thing to do was finding something and thinking "what if I go to..." and realising that I will actually never wear this ever again and to put it in the bag.
  3. Thank your clothes- This sounds crazy and you feel a little silly. Marie doesn't like the idea of shoving it in a bag, likes you to thank your clothes as you are placing them in the bag or box for not keeping.
  4. Hang/Refold - I work in retail so this is something I can do in my sleep. However Marie has her own was of folding and it is AMAZING saves so much space. So of course I refolded all the clothes I was keeping and sorted them into the correct draws.
  5. Charity or Bin- If you are anything like me then you probably have clothes with holes or that are faded so sadly these couldn't be donated to charity/family. However I collated 3 bin bags full of clothes that I no longer needed that are going round my family and then to the charity shop.
I will insert some diagrams I have found, of how Marie advises you to fold your clothes. I totally recommend as it saves so much space and it is so tidy. Also will include my own results below!

She has many other folds too for socks, vests and pants just simply google for help. Here are my finished draws after using the fold..

There we have it my first blog post of 2019, hopefully I can keep it up! If you want more decluttering posts then let me know I am thinking of doing a make up declutter soon! Thank you for reading.

Love
Mel
