San Fransisco (Travel Blog, Top Tips, Regrets)

by - August 26, 2018

If you read my last post or follow me on any form of social media, then you will know that I have been in America for around 3 weeks during July/August. I thought I would do 3 posts on the 3 places that I visited showing you some photos that I may not of shared already, some tips for you guys and also some regrets I have about the place we visited. So I will get started, we started off our trip in San Fransisco after about 15 hours on a plane.

Where did we stay?

We stayed in a great western hotel on union square called "The Cartwright Hotel". First impressions were that the hotel was a very old building it was quite creepy in the reception and the hallways, however the rooms were gorgeous. Nothing spectacular but very clean, it was quiet and the bed was comfy. It was right on union square and in walking distance to many shops and restaurants including Sephora and VS which instantly puts its rating up (lol) and a bagel shop named posh bagels which did the BEST bagels I have every tasted! I don't have any pictures of the room however they were very modern with a great light up mirror haha, all you need really..

Favourite excursions, trips, places?

I didn't have a clue what to expect when arriving as I hadn't read much about the place and I didn't know the history apart from the introduction to "thats so raven" (if you know you know)... However I was blown away it was so weird, a city with beaches and piers there was something for everyone there!

Alcatraz: I had no idea what Alcatraz really was until we arrived so I was really excited nor expecting much as its just a prison right? I did not expect them to let you in majority of prison and let you know the amount of information that they did.. It was so interesting to learn about the prison, day to day runnings, and also the guys that escaped from there many many years ago! 100% recommend going to visit Alcatraz if you are visiting San Fran, even if you have no idea what its about!

AT&T Park Tour: Every holiday we go on I am forced into doing a stadium tour by the boyfriend, that I secretly enjoy, however never let him know that... The stadium its self is gorgeous also it is situated right by the water so you can see for miles and its such a beautiful view. Our tour guide was amazing and really knew his stuff!! If you're a sports fan then I 100% recommend touring AT&T!

Golden Gate Bridge: You cannot visit San Fran without going to see the famous Golden Gate bridge. we walked it from Fishermans Warf (an amazing place to visit for FOOD!!) However we saw a lot of people biking down there or you can just get an Uber down as its about 45 minute walk.. The day we visited it, it was so cloudy we couldn't even see the top of the bridge however it was fantastic!!

Regrets?

  • Not visiting San Fransisco Zoo
  • Discovering Fishermans Warf on the last day
  • Not biking to the golden gate bridge
  • Not doing a Whale watching boat ride
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post.. I hope that you enjoyed it, if you have visited San Fran then let me know what you enjoyed while you were there! Also if anyone has any questions then I will be open to answering them in the comments below.

Love

Mel
