New York City Day 1 & 2

Day 1 - Travel Day, Times Square

The day started very early for us as we needed to be at the airport before 7am ready to check in, and the airport is about 45 minutes from where we live so it was a 5am wake up call for us. We flew from Manchester airport and since being there last year I noticed the security was so much tighter this time there was staff walking round and talking to you questioning where you were off, and checking your passports. We started the day off with some breakfast in the airport, I never enjoy food this early in the morning as I am an anxious flyer so I stuck to dry toast (BORIng!!!). Our flight boarded on time and we took off earlier than expected, which never happens!

When we landed it was only about 3pm (New York Time), we were told our hotel wasn't ready until after 4pm so we left our bags and went to explore New York!! The first place we went was time

square as you cannot really miss it when your hotel is on the same street. I was stunned with how busy it was, there was tourist everywhere (duhhh), there was not a quiet spot at all. We had a quick look around and went into Sephora and I might of bought a few bits, and then we went for some food! We went somewhere we knew we could trust, Hard Rock I had the twisted macaroni and cheese, which wasn't as nice as it was in London but hey ho.

By the time we had food we went back went to our room unpacked and went back out to times square. We were quite unsure of what to do as we hadn't planned anything so we just browsed and found the NFL experience and decided to give it a go! Both of us knew nothing at all about American football but it was so interesting and fun! As you walk in its just a lot of memorabilia which was ok a little boring (we literally thought this was it), then you're sent into a cinema with motion censored seats. This part was incredible I wont spoil it too much for you but they play a film and the motion censored seats make it feel like you're in the game, its incredible! Once thats finished you go into another few rooms and there is games and challenges for you to do. Its a great way to fill in a gap in your day!

After the NFL experience it was dark by know so we chilled out on the famous red stairs for a good hour, as we waited for the famous Enzo Amore (for those who don't know, he is a WWE wrestler). It was crazy I have never seen anything like it, everyone was going crazy and a lot of tourist joined in too even though they had no idea what was going on...

By now we were absolutely shattered as we had gained 4 more hours by flying to NY, so we headed to CVS (what an amazing place) bought a load of snacks and drinks for the room, I was finally reunited with chocolate flipz. So we headed back to our hotel room showered and headed to bed and literally my head hit the pillow and I was gone...

Day 2 - 9/11 Memorial, Statue of liberty, MSG and Yankees

I feel like the first full day of your holiday is always the most jam packed and exciting. I woke up at 5am from jet lag and was wide awake, so I got up and got ready while my boyfriend went for a run (no he is not athletic in the slightest and this lasted a whole 20 minutes). One of the main things on my to do list was the 9/11 memorial, so we headed there first thing to see it. It was so strange to see a
place so busy yet so quiet and peaceful it made me tear up seeing all the white roses on the memorials to celebrate each i
individuals birthdays. It made me so happy seeing how much effort was being put in to preserve the surrounding areas and the memorials. My boyfriend didn't want to visit the museum as he doesn't agree with making money out of it, so we skipped the museum and went onto find the statue of liberty.

We walked for what felt like forever, until it felt like we weren't even in the city. If you have ever been you will understand what I mean one minute you're trying to direct yourselves between skyscrapers next minute you can see for miles its amazing!! After 10000 attempts of my boyfriend taking a decent photo of me in-front of the Manhattan skyline, we carried on walking towards the ferry for the statue of liberty. Two arguments later and a 20 wait we finally boarded the ferry to go across to Staten Island and I saved us $30 because my boyfriend didn't believe you can get the ferry for free (clearly won the argument). I have

to admit I don't know if my hopes were way too high but I was not that impressed with lady liberty opss sorry.  We walked around Staten Island for about half an hour while we waited it out for the next ferry back, we decided to get an Uber back to times square.

By this point we were literally starving, we walked a few blocks and got to MSG, there is a little food court next to it so we ate pizza in there and it was so nice!

After we had fuelled up we went to look in MSG and we ended up doing a tour of it. It was so much fun our tour guide was amazing and hilarious!! They were setting up for Kendrick Lamar's concert while we were there so it was so cool seeing all of that being set up too!

After the MSG tour was finished we made our way back to the hotel and got freshened up and dressed ready for the Baseball. This was also our first experience on the New York Metro, for those Londoners, it is a lot different and a lot more simpler and cheaper!! We bought a pre paid ticket with
$50 on it and this lasted us until the end of the week! The metro literally drops you at the stadium, which is amazing so we hopped off and went straight into the stadium without a queue. Now this wasn't your basic stadium this was kitted out like crazy with about 10 fitted Yankee shops and about 100 places to get food!! I was blown away with the amount of food that was available, alcohol was V expensive so I opted out of
drinking $12 for a Bud Light no thank you!! We bought one of the souvenir meals (I'll insert the picture), it was very extra. The baseball in a nut shell was just a very fancy game of rounders, my boyfriend got bored before I did so we left in the 6th round and got the metro back to times square.

We were again shattered by the end of the game, so we headed to pizza hut (ops) grabbed a pizza and ate it in bed while watching the end of the baseball in bed with a Sephora face mask on BLISSS..

Well that is the end of day 1 and 2, thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and sorry about the blog break!! Day 3 and 4 will be up Wednesday I hope if work isn't too hectic this week!

Lots of love
Melissa
