24 Hours In London...
Hello!! Happy Sunday once again, this year is going so quickly I just cannot keep up I'll be Christmas shopping soon....
A few weeks ago now (I think) myself and my boyfriend booked a very spontaneous trip to London, mainly just to get away. While looking what was on in London we came across the Athletics both of us well into our sport decided to book tickets for the Thursday evening.
I couldn't get the Thursday off work so it was a matter of sneaking out a little early and running for the train (I have never moved so quickly). The train from here to London is just under two hours so we took some sandwiches and settled into our seats!
We arrived in London around 4/5 o'clock we just missed rush hour on our venture to the hotel. We stayed in the Covent Garden Travel Lodge (classy). The hotel was standard a bed bathroom and smallest TV ever. Anyway that didn't matter at all as we dropped our bag off and we're back out again for a wonder around before we needed to head to the athletics.
It was HOT believe it or not after a couple of tubes and a wonder to get our tickets we were in the Olympic Park. Since being with my boyfriend I've learnt that these stadium things are apparently impressive and really important to football fans (eye roll) and he must get a photo in every one.
The athletics was fantastic it was amazing seeing everyone cheering and getting excited for Team GB! The last race wasn't until quarter to 11 so we stayed until the very end and then got a tube back to the London eye.
London in the day is pretty impressive but at night it's just so beautiful all the lights and people.
Despite being disgusted that the Mc Donald's by the London eye was closing due to running out of food (I was very hangry) we had a little walk around the south bank then back up to Leicester Square to find some food. However the only food we could find was McDonald's so we settled at that and headed back to our hotel.
Time to be major tourists. We had both been to London a few times, however you cannot beat looking at the London sights....
One of the main reasons we wanted to visit London was to do "over the o2" which includes you and a team of people literally walking over the o2 arena! I can say it was amazing and also showed me how unfit I was ops.
It was around 4 o'clock by now so we quickly headed to oxford street to visit Harrods. Disheartened that the pet shop had gone we left with a teddy bear and we're on yet another TUBE.
Loaded up with meal deals and snacks we boarded our train back home at 7:30, by the time we had changed trains and drove home it was near enough 12 and I had work in the morning so we went straight to bed.
I always think spontaneous trips are some of the best and it's nice sometimes to just get away even if it is only for a day.
Thank you so much for reading.
Melissa
